How can that possibly be the case? It sounds insane, but as far as I can tell, there's no way to import 4k60 video without using some other device in between. I've been messing around making videos for the last couple of months, editing them with first my 10.5 iPad Pro and then with my 11" iPad Pro and Lumafusion. I decided to step it up a notch and get a camera that isn't my iphone, so i purchased a DJI Osmo pocket. Today I'm at work and have some downtime so I walk around and shoot for 4k60 footage on it, then go to import it to my ipad to stitch it all together. Plugging the Osmo directly in doesn't work. It pops up the import menu but gives me the red exclamation mark and won't import the video. "Stupid third party cable!" so I plug the Osmo into my iPhone using the included lightning adapter. Nope. I get a message that it's not supported. "Stupid DJI app!" I think, never considering that Apple won't let you import high resolution video on its iPad PRO. So finally I get home. I'm gonna get to the bottom of this. I try a higher quality USB C cable, a 3.0 version. Nope. I try a different SD card. Nope. I try a USB C to microSD card adapter. Nope. I try the factory included USB C to USB A cable along with an Apple USB C dongle. Nope. I'm super mad at this garbage ass camera I just paid $350 for, and I start googling. To my TOTAL surprise, it's actually an iOS limitation. As far as I can tell, there's no WIRED way to move 4K60 video to an iOS device. Multiple threads seem to support my finding. My questions: 1. What the FUCK? How the fuck is Apple pushing their iPad Pro as a mobile creative powerhouse and then arbitrarily limiting the FRAME RATE (!) of the videos you import OVER A WIRE? What's a computer? NOT THIS BULLSHIT! 2. Does anyone know a bandaid fix for this? Maybe one of those mobile wifi hub things that will accept an SD card then let you connect to them over wifi to transfer the files? Will that work or is that for some reason gimped too? Anyone have any suggestions for a good one if so? I'm actually going out of town tomorrow and I was planning to spend my time shooting with that camera and then editing at night to see what the Osmo can really do, since my Mac is an iMac, my choice is either to shoot in lower resolution, shoot in lower frame rate, or shoot in high frame rate and not be able to edit, or even view on a larger than 1" screen until I get home on Tuesday. Also, thanks for listening to my bitching if you've made it this far. I'm pretty pissed off. Here's the video I made today at work, after finally just importing the videos to my Mac, and then BACK to motherfucking iPad to edit in lumafusion, click the link to watch it on YouTube in 4k60 if you want.
