So, as literally everyone ever may have noticed, I'm a total rube when it comes to buying all the shiny tech things. I also absolutely LOVE the idea of anything that makes my travel setup lighter and more streamlined (even though I don't travel very much at all anymore). This checks both of those boxes.

Behold, the Satechi USB-C Magnetic Charging dock! In short, it's a little Apple Watch charger with a male USB-C connector on it. You can plug it directly into any USB-C charger or laptop port, or most relevant to my interests, into an iPad Pro and make an impromptu charging stand for your apple watch.

In the box is the little charging puck, along with a short male to female type C extension cable which will probably be useful if you're using a standard wall wart charger like my Aukey 18W PD travel charger (affiliate link). My plan is to use it almost exclusively with my iPad Pro, since that's my default travel setup.

There are some obvious drawbacks to this setup; the iPad Pro only has one port, so if you're charging your watch like this you can't do anything else, but then again the Apple Watch charges pretty damn fast and the reduction in things and cables I need to carry makes it worth it to me. I figure I can charge the iPad overnight, and then stick this in it and charge my watch up while I shower in the morning and be able to delete one cable from my travel bag. Totes worth $45! The USB-C Magnetic charger isn't available on Amazon yet, but you can get it direct from Satechi, with impressively fast shipping (at least in my case). Buy on Satechi.net.

I will update this post if it ends up catching my watch on fire or something, but Satechi has a pretty decent reputation for having quality stuff, so I don't foresee any problems.
